I was in an occasion where so many legislators and Government appointees attended. While I was in one rejected canopy enjoying the music of the band, I took my time to study the arrival of each legislator/Top Government Appointee.
Each of them came with almost 5 to 8 mean looking mobile policemen plus their own personal bodyguards including their aides. Notwithstanding that, I observed that these bodyguards barricade the HONORABLE / SENATOR from having contact with the people that gave him votes and popularity to reach to that position.
I now came to understand that these people are representing themselves, friends and family members. Try and visit any of them in their village homes and you will be very disappointed. You will come as early as 7am, stay there till "thy Kingdom come" and that is if the gate man there will allow you to enter without discharging you from the gate.
You may decide to go to the constituency office to see if you can help yourself with some information that will enable you get some answers that you need. On reaching their you will meet one big PADLOCK which implies that the office is not functional. Then you might decide to go to their private office in Owerri capital or their Abuja office, my dear "your name na sorry". You will realise that you just spent your transportation fares in vain.
When will our State House Members / House of Representatives / Senators and Top Government Appointees come home and interact with their brothers and sisters at home. Today they are in China, tomorrow in UK, next tomorrow in their private site supervising their project.
They don't know the problems of the people and that is why if they want to do empowerment, you will see them giving people something that will not add values to their lives.
While I understand the need for security, these are the same people that will freely mingle with their people once they are out of office.
