AN OPEN LETTER TO IMO STATE GOVERNOR - HIS EXCELLENCY, EMEKA IHEDIOHA

His Excellency Sir,

Like I said in my Congratulatory letter to you, I join millions of other well meaning Imolites who perceived from your body language, your good intentions for competent leadership. My worry however, is about the ignorant ones planted around the corridors of power who seem to have their own idea of what good government must entail. For this reason, make sure your foot is heavy into the ground like an Astronaut walking on the Moon.

Long before your victory, the good people of Imo State have been frantically searching for a Tested and Trusted one who is to replace former governor Okorocha whom it was widely claimed not to have governed well at all. Rather, he thought Imo State Government is for only him, his family and a few messengers. It is very unfortunate that Imolites made this sort of mistake in the past. Like my Physics teacher used to lament, "This sort of error should not be constant". Your competence sincerely makes the difference. Never leave anyone in doubt that you mean business even in the face of persecution and mere ranting from some wheel chair political media.

Unlike your predecessor, do well to make use of the State fund for quality projects. As a matter of fact, Imo State has the most substandard projects within South Eastern Nigeria with the worst road network and poor basic amenities.

Let me go straight to the point Sir. They say a stitch in time saves nine and prevention is better than cure. I can see the Enugu State Governor now sponsoring a law against kidnapping. In reference to that and seen that kidnapping is rampant, we encourage and advise you to see if you can do the following as the Rebuild Imo train moves forward:

1. Make anti kidnapping law in Imo.
2. Make anti open grazing law in Imo.
3. Make law obliging hotel dealers to mount 24hrs because the spate of deaths in hotels in Imo especially Owerri is too much. This can help the police know who enters these places and with who.
4. Boast Vocational and Technical Schools in Imo. You can establish something like well equipped Catering Schools, Schools for Fashion and Design, Schools for Hair Saloon, Cosmetics and Nail Fixing as millions of our young ladies are jobless and have no means of livelihood. These are modern job opportunities. You can establish as well as Mechanic Workshops in Owerri, Orlu, Oguta, Mbaise and Okigwe for some youths to get something doing as an idle mind they say, is the devil's workshop.

5. Recruit psychologists for children and adolescent  in schools and hospitals as well as Music Teachers. Beside creating job opportunities, students who perfect in music or movie acting/production can pursue it as a profession.

6. Reintroduce History as a subject and Civic Education in our Secondary Schools. It is quite unfortunate that our youths no more know the history of important things in our society.

7. Introduce schools for sports from primary to high education. With these, Imo can be harvesting talents and be selling to other States and countries. It can give talented children and youths the opportunity to pursue careers and get job as sportsmen. As a matter of fact, Sports School is lacking in Nigeria and you can make the a history by establishing one in Imo State.
8.  Encourage communities with social cultural dances to resuscitate cultural festivals like Ikeji Izuogu, Iri Ji Mbaise, Orji Ezinihitte Mbaise, Okorosa Orlu and organise for Imo carnival in a way that it can give Imo an identity and attract tourists at any given period.

9. Organise well, the Local Vigilante Okorocha started in a confused way. It can offer jobs to youths and improve security in the State.
10. Establish a standard ICT hub in Imo for idle but talented youths to showcase their wonderful talents.

As a matter of fact, you have started well and we continue to pray God to guide, protect and give you more wisdom to properly rebuild Imo State.

REMAIN BLESSED SIR,

MAY GOD BLESS IMO STATE.
